We learnt about the rule of "yours" and "mine" this is used when passing the heavy and expensive camera around to your peers its to show who is holding the weight of the camera so that no one will drop and risk breaking the equipment.
The little bubble in the green liquid with a little circle within is known as the spirit level this is used for leveling the tripod to see how straight the camera will be on top. by angling the bubble to the center, you can make sure the shot is nice and level to change where the bubble is you unscrew the head from beneath the tripod then move the bubble around until it reaches the center.
The way we set up the tripod correctly is by following a few certain tips that we were told, these include, making sure when you rise the tripod up you use the bottom legs first and not the top ones as it makes it easier, when you have reached the height that you are happy with you turn the knobs to lock the tripod in place so it won't fall down. when putting the camera on the tripod you must make sure you push in the little grey button on the left side then slide the base onto the tripod till it is full on then let go of the button to lock it in place and then twist a knob around on the right side to lock it in and make sure the camera doesn't wobble on top.
because of the depth of field it is easier to zoom into the object you are filming then focus then to zoom out again for it to look sharp as possible and when filming a person the focus point should be the person's eyes in the shot which you are filming.
