How did the studio come about?
Walt Disney created 'The Walt Disney Company' within a small office in Los Angeles. In 1923 Walt Disney and his brother Roy founded the Disney Brothers Cartoon Studio in Hollywood, California. Today Disney has had a giant impact into the entertainment world and has now become one of the most successful media companies in the world. The company has now been running for 98 years. Walt and Roy started their collection of short animation films and Live actions and were previously called 'Alice Comedies'. during the four months of these films being released the staff for Walt began to grow which allowed them to move to a larger studio in 1925.
Walt Disney began a animated film in 1927 which featured a small mouse driving steamboat. this was released a year later in 1928, and was known as the animation 'Steamboat Willie' which to this day, at the start of some of Disney's movies they still use that same animation. A year later Walt Disney released their first short film with Mickey Mouse speaking his catch phrase "Hot Dogs!" which was called 'The Carnival kid'. Also today the main face of Disney has become Mickey Mouse.
Who owns the company? Do they own anything else as well? if so how could this help the studio?
Disney was first owned by the creator Walt Disney from 1923 to 1966 which was the year that he had sadly passed away. After Walt sadly passed his brother Roy who started the Walt Disney Company, with Walt. Roy soon died in 1971 and his wife gave it to his son in law in the late 80's Ron who became CEO.
Today Disney now own most of the entertainment business this is able to help them by branding other films and the use of copyright as they will have the claims to those companies. which has massive advantages so that they don't have to pay those companies so Disney are able to save lots of money.
