Props.. How to make rust for props

This blog post is me researching into how with the props that I will purchase how to make them rust.

The Ingredients that i will need to get hold off to make rust for the props include Gloves, Protective eyewear, Distilled white Vinegar, Hydrogen peroxide, salt, a spray bottle, and Clear Sealer.

SAFETY FIRST! - While these are some regular items you want to make sure that you are extra careful while mixing them together, and wear proper eye protection and gloves. Best place to do this would be outside so that you have good ventilation and you don't have a risk of ruining anything.

Step 1: you want to get your metal  and place it into a container or bucket. After you have placed the object into the container pour some of the white distilled vinegar on top. pour enough to cover the object, you could also pour some of the vinegar into a spray bottle and spray your metal objects instead.

Step 2: Let the metal object sit in the vinegar for as little or as long as you want, then drain the vinegar from container. a good amount of time to let the object rest for about 5 minutes, then drain.

Step 3: At this point you need to add the peroxide on top of your metal objects. you can mix it with the vinegar and salt inside a spray bottle if you want. This is where the peroxide starts to bubble on the metal and you can see the rust colour coming on.

Step 4:
put a bunch of the salt onto the object now you will see the rust colour start to come out even more.

Step 5:
Remove the object from the mixture and then let it air dry. after a few minutes rinse it off in the container and dry
it with a paper towel. but not too hard as it may remove the colouring leave it for around 10 minutes.

I will use this for my opening when i purchase the props then rust them at home to make them look like they are old and dangerous looking to the camera.
