What is my role within our group production

Within our media group we have assigned certain roles for each of us, although we have a main role, we will still have a chance to try all the roles, but we need one to be fully responsible for, one role which we all are incharge of together is the producer.

The role I have taken charge of for the project is the Director, this is quite a big role for me to take on which I feel quite confident with. This role consists of the creative vision of the filming process, also instructing other members of the crew, lighting, and make up. I will be telling the actors what they need to do for the camera.

Before shooting as the director I have to make sure that everyone on set and the actors know what they are doing to make this work, I also need to oversee the set and make sure the continuity is correct and the lighting is all working for the camera, in order to make our opening look more realistic when it comes to the editing process.

To take to the shoot, I need to take the shot list which we have made along with the storyboard and the shooting sheducal with the casting call, so that i can manage who we need at what time, what we need to shot and when and how to shoot the shot for the camera, and the storyboard to make sure that everything that we have filmed is there without looking back at the footage.

A challenge that I think i'll face when it comes to shooting will be keeping all the continuity in order, and making sure the set looks the same, and the makeup on the characters look realistic enough for the camera, I also think I may struggle with some of the stunts that i wish to try and pull off, which will make me quickly have to find a way to work around it.

Another role that i would like to take some charge on is the Editor. The editor is incharge off the post production and they will manage the camera footage, dialogue, sound effects, graphics and special effects to produce the final product this tends also to be a key role in post production process and your skills can determine the quality of the finished result.

This role is important to make sure that all the footage that has been recorded all flows together and syncs up to make it all look very continuous without for example a very abrupt cut from one shot to the next, it is also important to make sure all the sound is made clear and is able to hear the action that is happening on camera.

A challenge i think i would face with this role is if there is a shot missing which won't make the sequence flow, or if the continuity is off as i would need to find a way to make the scene make sense without confusing the audience and making the sequence look bad, this is why this roe is really important because they are responsible for what is put on the screen at the end of the day.

Folysound

Foley Sounds are the sounds that are made from everyday life like footsteps, doors opening and closing, wind blowing, glass breaking, and other ambient noise.  these sound effects get added to the edit in post production.

Foley sound is made by recording sound effects on foley stage, which big studios are equipped with lots of objects, textures, and surfaces which the the people can use to recreate sounds. before they go to record the sound effects they will watch the whole film first and note what kind of sound effects they are going to need, then gather the necessary props and materials.

Foley sound helps to make a film feel more immersive and realistic to the audience. it's too quiet without having any sound, and it can create more believable ambient sounds.

To recreate the clip from jurassic park i used a door a spray bottle, switches and my voice to create the effects.

Costume for Victim

This blog post consists off all the costume choices we are going to use. Sophie is incharge of getting the costume together.

For the victims costume it tends to be quite similar to the costume of the villian with a few slight differences, for example for the top half of the costume we will use a white shirt which we will make dirty, and bloody, to make it look old and destroyed. This creates an image that the victim has been there for a longtime and being beat up before. We can find a white shirt on amazon for below 5 pounds.

For the bottom half of the costume, i was thinking of a few choices for example like ripped black jeans or shorts, i have yet to decide. I like the idea of black shorts as you could imagine that the victim is quite cold within the container, but on the other hand Like the idea of ripped black jeans to look like the Villian has destroyed his clothes, or found them out of a gutter.

Now for the feet of the victim i thought that the victim wouldn't have any shoes, because it creates another image how the victim has been left here to be tortured and has dirty and bloody feet like he's stood in sharp objects etc.

Again for the make up for the victim is going to be done by alice.

Costume for Villain

This blog post consists off all the costume choices we are going to use. Sophie is incharge of getting the costume together.

For the villain they are mainly going to be wearing black all the way through the sequence until later on when the victim removes the hoodie from the villian and puts it on for himself. On amazon you can get a cheap black hoodie for below 10 pounds. Under the Hoodie when it's taken off The actor will just be wearing a plain black shirt, which are cheap to buy, on amazon you can purchase one for around 5 pounds.

For the bottom half of his costume the villain is going to be wearing a black pair of tracksuit bottoms, which will have dirt all over them to look like he has found a dirty old pair of clothes and has been through lots of mud to get to where we are. and for shoes he will have a pair of cheap trainers which again will have dirt all over them to make them look like they are practically nearly black. The tracksuit bottoms we can purchase for around 10 pounds, and the white trainers we can buy for around 20 pounds or below.

For Make up alice is incharge of the make up for each of the characters so she will do a blog post on what she is getting and planning to do for the make up style

Shot List

This is our groups Shot list for what we have put together for our opening sequence, Elias started first, alice went second, Sophie is third, then I am last of the list.

What props do we need

This blog post covers all the props we need for our opening sequence with references where to get them and why we need them. I'm in charge of finding all the props we will need for the sequence.

One crucial prop we need for the opening is a old looking cassette player preferably that works this is because to play into the scene we want to give it a contrapuntal feel to the action going on within that's why we are going to have Jazz music playing from the cassette player which we are going to show off. W can find one like this for below 20 pounds, luckily I think i may have one at home which i will check.

another prop needed is a security camera that we can put up in the corner of the container, luckily i found a cheap dummy camera on B&Q for 10 pounds which will work perfectly and looks very realistic.

We are going to use fake barbed wire instead of rope to tie up the victim to give off a more uncomfortable effect for the audience and it is seen to be more painful than rope, you can get a 2 metre reel of the fake barbed wire for 5 pounds on amazon. we are also going to buy a reel of rope just incase the barbed wire doesn't look realistic.

We need a silver metal bucket which we are going to use quite heavily during our opening sequence, for example when we have the water droplets falling into it, then when the blood drop transitions to water. We are able to buy one on amazon for below 10 pounds.

A towel is going to be a partner prop for the bucket which will also be covered in blood, which will then be used later on in the sequence to try and suffocate the victim. The blood on the towel can reference a past of the victim being attacked and bleeding. On amazon you can get a white towel for about 6 pounds we want to buy a towel as we are going to ruin it by covering it in blood. along with the towel we need a white handkerchief which we will use for the villain to wipe down his hands after his hands are covered in blood with the knuckle dusters.

We need a bottle of vodka accompanied with a old looking whisky glass (The bottle of vodka will be filled with water not vodka), all off us have said we have these items at home so we will all bring some in to see which will look the best for the camera.

A black duffle bag is going to be used as an incentive to the victim, as when he finds the duffle bag full of money he wants to take it for himself, Alice has said she has a black duffle bag at home which she has said she is going to bring in for us to use for the shoot.

Along with the duffle bag it off course you need the money to go along with it, luckily at school Mike has told us that they have got quite a good load of fake money to use, Just incase it isn't enough, you can get stacks of fake money for around 10 pounds for a few stacks.

On the wall of the container there will be a mirror cracked up on the wall, this is to show some psychotic images of the villain and the victim to the audience. On B&Q i have found a 600mm width one for around 18 pounds. I am going to have a look at home for a spare mirror that i think that i may have.

Around the Mirror we are going to put up lots of ID looking photos around the mirror, this is an easy prop to acquire, for example ask people in your family if you can take a black and white picture of them, then alongside this prop we need red thread to go around the photos that all lead back to the mirror like they do in a investigation.

We are planning to make fake blood for our opening sequence but incase that doesn't go to plan we decided that i will purchase some fake blood to use on the torture tools, the towel, and spitting blood from the victim, on amazon this costs around 5 pounds.

One prop which is going to be hard to find and get hold off will be a pair of knuckle dusters, as here in the UK they are illegal, so I went and did some research into Film realistic props, and found a few on etsy that may look realistic enough for the camera I'm going to order a pair and show them to Mike to get his approval.

A few props we are going to need are like tools you use to chop wood etc like and Axe, pliers, sledgehammer, crowbar, and a hammer. surprisingly these are all quite cheap on B&Q around 10 - 20 pounds, then to make them look realistic on set I'm going to rust them manually and put blood on them with a bit of spray paint to look more natural.

My Final Sequence
